Good Link Practices
There are two types of links in any website: absolute or relative. It is always better to use the absolute links as they are more robust.
Here is an example of a relative link in weCollaborate:
- https://wecollaborate.unep.org/display/HR/Human+Resource+Focal+Points
- The Human+Resource+Focal+Points is based on the name of the page and if the name is changed (i.e. the s is removed from Points) then this link will break everywhere it has been used.
- The better option is to access the Page Information and get the Tiny Link (this will only break if the page is removed).
The space links are already absolute and they can be used as is, as the space key does not change even if the space name does. Here is an example of a space link:
- https://wecollaborate.unep.org/display/OFO or https://wecollaborate.unep.org/display/HR
- In these this example OFO is the space key and in the second example HR is the space key. Space keys cannot be changed.
