This guide provides instructions on how to create a link in Microsoft Teams to a space or page in weCollaborate.
When linking is a good idea? When you have a Microsoft Team that would benefit from the information in weCollaborate. People will then be able to see the latest information published online right from the Microsoft Team environment. Examples include linking to a space connected to a Division, Office, or Regional Office - the link can go directly to the directory page or even the calendar page. Maybe you have a team that focuses on a particular topic, such as Human Resources or Finance or Transformation and you can link directly to the relevant space on weCollaborate.
Navigate to the channel in Micosoft Teams that you want to create the link in and click on the + button
In this example we are in the General channel of the Corporate Services Division Microsoft Team.
Next, choose the Website option and fill in the requested details.
In this example I have called the tab weCollaborate and have added a link that will take you directly to the landing page of the Corporate Services Division space. See the note below on good link practices.
Click on Save and your link is added.
Good Link Practices
There are two types of links in any website: absolute or relative. It is always better to use the absolute links as they are more robust.
Here is an example of a relative link in weCollaborate:
- The Human+Resource+Focal+Points is based on the name of the page and if the name is changed (i.e. the s is removed from Points) then this link will break everywhere it has been used.
- The better option is to access the Page Information and get the Tiny Link (this will only break if the page is removed).
The space links are already absolute and they can be used as is, as the space key does not change even if the space name does. Here is an example of a space link:
- https://wecollaborate.unep.org/display/OFO or https://wecollaborate.unep.org/display/HR
- In this example OFO is the space key and in the second example HR is the space key. Space keys cannot be changed.
