Checklist

Create your news story / blog post using the following content:

  • Each story should have a heading/title
  • Each story should start with the date and location in brackets, for example (21 February 2017, Nairobi), and have an identical posting date (this is based on the publication date)
  • Each story requires a photo
  • Each story requires labels as this determines where it will appear (see Using labels in News Stories for more guidance)
  • Each story requires the image to be selected


Creating a news story / blog

Navigate to your Division/ Office/ MEA space

  • From the UNEP Menu navigate to your Division/ Office/ MEA space

Click on the + button

  • Click on the + button located on the left-hand side of the screen within the Division/Office/MEA space

Create a blog post

  • Make sure the space selected is for the correct Division/Office/MEA
  • Select Blog post
  • Click Create

Confirm that you are about to create a news story / blog and not a page, ensure that once you have clicked on create you are able to see the following

    • Additional information for this blog post heading on the top left hand corner (see screenshot below)
    • URL link that includes /createblogpost.action
    • You are asked write a Blog post title and not a Page title.

TIPS:

  1. Write a compelling title with a few words, avoiding acronyms.
  2. In the text, write clear and short sentences. Summarize the report findings. If possible, add quotes of colleagues who contributed for the publication telling about its importance and relevance to implement UNEP’s mandate.



Step 3: Add Publication Period and Labels and Select Image

1. Click on the Additional information for this blog post to get a drop down.

Note

  1. Once the page is open, you need to add the label so the blog post is displayed on the landing page (label: hq_news)



3. Enter the assigned labels by clicking on the tag icon (see screenshot above).

4. Select  a high-quality picture so your blog post gets higher visibility and it is suitable to appear in the landing page. (see screenshot below)

5. Click on save additional information (see screenshot below)
